A very unique software development house, specialising in mobile development which is based in Cape Town is on the lookout for intermediate to senior Linux technician /Linux system administrator to join their team.

Duties

• Maintaining on-site Linux (mostly Ubuntu) and some Windows Servers.
• Creating and supporting Windows domain users.
• Setting up and maintaining Windows PCs on Windows domain network.
  • Technical hardware support (PC doesn’t boot, mouse isn’t working, getting bluescreens).
  • PC software support (Outlook PST is corrupt, need to install FileZilla).
• Bacula tape backups to be run daily to existing schedule.
• Call centre Windows PCs to be maintained, supported, new PCs to be setup.
• AWS EC2 Linux Servers to be maintained, FTP/Apache/, etc. setups and users to be managed.
• Basic mail server support (combination of Linux/Windows/AWS/API systems).
• Hardware store to be maintained and know where everything is.
• Interact directly with users.
• Report to infrastructure manager.
• Work on medium-term projects (e.g. PXE boot locked down linux desktop PCs).
