Over the last 13 years, Rhino Africa has been repeatedly recognised as “Africa’s leading luxury safari company”. To ensure exclusive access for our tour operations and to become involved in one more step of our clients’ experiences, in 2010 Rhino Africa launched a specialised property division. Starting with the award winning luxury boutique hotel, MannaBay, we have begun creating luxurious properties across the continent’s key destinations. Having conquered the Cape, Rhino Africa is proud to announce the launch of our brand new development, Silvan Safari, opening in the Sabi Sands region in November 2017.

Silvan Safari Lodge is conceptualized to redefine the notion of luxury safari, by providing guests with exclusive access to an authentic African bush experience paired with exceptional service. From waking to the resounding roar of the lion as the spectacular African sun rises over the midlands, to dipping in the crystal safari pool, champagne in hand, as the silhouetted landscape disappears with the sunset; Silvan Safari pushes the boundaries on an all-inclusive escape. Surrounded by lush vegetation on the outskirts of the Kruger National Park, Silvan Safari will boast six aesthetically pleasing modern suites each equipped with a private plunge pool. The main lodge, suspended in the indigenous treetops, provides majestic panoramic views of the Manyeleti River. The lodge will also host its very own spa, encapsulating the epitome of a luxurious safari experience.

To turn this sensational concept into a reality, we are seeking an artisanal spa therapist to handle all massages and treatment related activities, as per Silvan Safari Lodge’s operational and treatment standards, in a safe and satisfying way. With a passion for people and a desire to soothe away the stresses of the day, the naturally intuitive spa therapist will leave guests feeling rejuvenated after a long day in the bush or kick-start their morning with an energising full body experience. The ideal candidate would have physical stamina, good health and work well under pressure, within a collaborative environment. We’re searching for a compassionate, empathic individual with sophisticated communication skills and a positive attitude, to surpass guests’ expectations.

Specific responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:

• Providing individualised bodywork treatments and massage services that meet the guests’ needs and expectations
• Obtaining the guests’ basic medical history, assessing guests’ needs as well as any problems or conditions and suggesting appropriate therapy based on the guests’ health
• Filling in necessary reports or data at the end of each session and maintaining guests’ details and confidentiality at all times
• Scheduling appointments and promoting Silvan Spa to guests through familiarising yourself with all spa packages, promotions and rates
• Performing opening and closing procedures, arranging workstations, treatment rooms & drapes and maintaining the spa and treatment room appearance and cleanliness, according to standard operating procedures
• Assisting with washing and folding of all linens used in treatment rooms
• Monitoring stock levels of oils and creams, ensuring that par stock levels are maintained at all times and reporting shortages to management
• Inquiring about contraindications including allergies, high blood pressure, and pregnancy, before beginning the service
• Ensuring that a high standard of service is maintained throughout Silvan Spa
• Maintaining complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment and using equipment only as intended
• Maintaining positive guest relations at all times through anticipating guests’ needs, resolving complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction and informing management about any incidents or complaints
• Handling inappropriate guest behaviour as per the lodge standard operating procedures for Inappropriate Conduct for Guests and Therapists
• Frequently checking with the guest to promote comfort, safety and security throughout service
• Handling emergency procedures and reporting any accidents to your manager
• Attending all scheduled meetings, classes and training sessions and ensuring that knowledge required within Silvan Spa is passed on to co-workers
• Assisting in all areas of recreation and leisure operation as and when required

Requirements

Our ideal candidate will possess

• A high school diploma or degree in a related field
• A minimum oft wo years’ massage experience in a luxury spa environment, preferably bush lodge experience
• Extensive knowledge, experience and the ability to recommend various treatments, procedures, deep meditation and relaxation techniques, spa products and pertinent Silvan Safari Lodge information
• Basic computer literacy
• Knowledge of and experience with undertaking stock control procedures
• Knowledge of cocktails, wines and a wide variety of beverages
• Physical stamina and good health
• A sense of self-motivation, collaboration and adaptability, combined with a passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences
• Strong interpersonal communication and rapport building skills
• A deep passion for spa therapy, hospitality and the bush environment
• A personal commitment to sustainability and ‘giving back’

• Preference will be given to candidates able to start by the 1st of November 2017
• Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged South African candidates
• Silvan Safari Lodge is located in Mpumalanga and applicants will be required to relocate at their own expense
