Mashaba has been accused of xenophobia and running an inefficient administration since taking the helm of the city.

But he has countered, saying his focus has been on rooting out corruption in order to ensure the city is run more efficiently.
Scores of officials have been charged with corruption and the mayor has said that the repair of city roads has markedly improved, as have plans to build informal settlements.
He claims the motion of no confidence is an attempt to derail these ongoing investigations and expresses the desperation of the former ANC leadership.
