Job description
Through the exciting expansion of the Cape Town International Convention Centre, we have doubled our exhibition floor space. This position provides the right incumbent not only fantastic exposure to the latest state of the art technologies and international best practices, but opportunity to work within one of the largest wifi networks in the country.
Reporting to the head of IT, you will take accountability for providing excellent third line support to the CTICC IT support team, providing assistance to the entire front and back office functions.
Overseeing our ICT infrastructure, your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited) to the following
- Direct involvement in incidents or problems causing service impact and acts as escalation point for incidents
- Provides ITIL service disciplines, covering incident, problem and change management
- Provides support and administration for Cisco Switches, Fortigate Firewalls and Mikrotik Routers
- Implements policies/standards to improve the quality and efficiency of support services based on ITIL and best practice security methodologies
- Works closely with the IT Service Desk and other Specialists to ensure a timely, robust and comprehensive service transition process
- Responsible for overall system and infrastructure availability developing a resilient infrastructure to reduce failures
- Responsible for resolving escalations identified through day-to-day system administration, including management of internal network, VPN, Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and system backups
- Supports and assists the ICT Systems Administrator with installations, configurations and support of new and existing servers and network infrastructure
Requirements
Together with your matric certificate, you ideally possess a degree/diploma in IT or related discipline (NQF6+) and MCSE. However, we will consider applicants with a certificate program, courses and/or relevant IT industry knowledge and experience. ITIL Foundation, Prince2 foundation and CISCO certified desirable, together with the following:
- A minimum of five years’ experience managing a similarly sized environment i.e. 100 PCs, physical servers, virtual servers, five switches.
- Three years of appropriate project experience in delivery of IT and or Integrated Systems preferably with a medium size organisation.
- Good understanding of server and desktop hardware/operating systems, networks, firewalls and load balancers, telecoms, etc.
- In depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory (Design, Security and Administration), Messaging (MS Exchange, Archiving, Mimecast)
- In depth knowledge of Networking technologies and concepts. Good understanding of VMWare 5 or Hyper V
- Good understanding of IT security and Data protection, Cloud and mobile technology, PowerShell scripting (Desirable)
- Exposure to MS SharePoint
- Experience of working with 3rd party service providers
- Driver’s License (own transport
