EC Honours Top Performing Educators
About 90 educators were awarded on ‘Excellence performance’for having passion in their job and unquestionable commitment at the Butterworth Circuit Management Centre as part of the Eastern Cape Education teacher’s celebration.
Core to the celebration was to encourage and motivate educators about their excellent performance under difficult conditions. The event was meant to convey the Department’s warmth gratitude to all practising educatorsin the province. Emphasis was also on reminding educators about the importance of Teacher, Tuition and Time.
Delivering her keynote in this event was the Motivational Speaker, Bulelwa Jikeka who thanked the department for appreciating educators. “I am very humbled by what the department is doing especially for these teacher. This eventhas touched me as I always got soft spot in my heart for this profession. I travel all over the country for many things, but today, its about and because of teacherson their special day”, said Jikeka.
Eastern Cape Department of Education Superintendent General, ThembaKojana, saidteaching is the noble profession, the mother of all professions; teaching is stewardship that is heavenly. “I am because of a teacher, they are my role models, that’s why we are celebrating excellence of theseteachers today. We thank them for serving this department with honour and pride. Im here to send a message of hope to those men and women of our country who are serving this department with honour”, said Kojana
Attending this event were other social partners who included National Professional Teachers’ Organisation of South Africa (NAPTOSA), South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) and National Education, Health and Allied Workers (Nehawu). Naptosa local chairperson, Sonwabile Ndimathankedall teachers for upholding professionalism in the teaching profession.
