Expresso, South Africa’s feel-good breakfast show on SABC3, is looking for a Motion Graphics Artist to join our awesome team. The right person for the job will have an absolute love of graphic design orientated projects and have the ability to be creative under pressure. The candidate should also have a passion for broadcast and digital media, keep up to date with trends on social media and graphic design publications, while being comfortable working in a team and with client correspondence.

Job Overview:

The Motion Designer/Editor plays a critical role in creating internal and external facing videos which directly impact our employee and customer experience, which requires thinking and acting creatively, time management, a positive and forward-thinking approach, and technical proficiency. This person is responsible for conceptualizing and executing leading edge motion graphics and editing solutions with our internal team and clients. This person will transform ideas and scripts into visual stories, support video with graphic design and innovate while working within brand and campaign guidelines. They will create advanced level original and unique content under various deadlines. This person must be able to show flexibility and can iterate with a team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Translate concepts and existing client information into visually compelling designs while collaborating with Creative Directors, Writers, Editors and Producers
• Apply graphic design methodology to brand, layout, typography, and photography
• Innovate while working within client brand guidelines and templates
• Conceptualize, design and craft motion graphic solutions for clients
• Illustrate, animate, work in 3D space, understanding of lighting and texture
• Encode video to required delivery specifications for a variety of distribution channels
• Collaborate within a team environment and provide innovative ideas and approach
• Work on several projects at once, drive results and meet deadlines
• Maintain professionalism and work with senior level executives
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest design techniques and trends

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: 

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in graphic/motion design, plus editing or related area
• Two or more years of experience in motion/graphic design, image production and enhancement using Adobe Creative Suite applications
• Two or more years of experience in editing, animation, and visual effects as well as creative conceptualization, animated design, and storyboarding
• Television/animation/film knowledge would benefit the applicant

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Bachelors degree in graphic/motion design plus editing or related area
• Retail Communications/Marketing production environment, with an intermediate ability to focus on customer needs
• Adobe Creative Suite Software Expertise (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Audition, Media Converter)
• Proficient with Cinema 4D and Element 3D, and/or Maya
• Experience editing video and audio with Adobe Premiere
• Concept of designing and typography
• Extensive knowledge and ability to create highly engaging animation techniques
• Ability to articulate ideas and concepts from a script to storyboard
• Familiar with visual effects techniques: green screen key, rotoscoping, motion tracking, and compositing
• RGB Color Correction and CMYK Color Correction
• Color Profiles and Monitor Calibration a plus
