There has been worldwide condemnation of Trump’s crude and offensive remark about African countries.

He allegedly made the comments at a briefing on new measures to restrict immigration.

The United Nations Human Rights Commissioner has called the comment racist while the African Union has expressed its dismay.

South Africa has issued a statement, calling on America’s acting ambassador to explain the remark.

Despite attempts by Trump to backtrack on parts of his remark, South Africa wants a thorough explanation.

The last time Pretoria expressed its displeasure with the US was in 2016 when the embassy issued a terror alert for South Africa.
