KHAYELITSHA – The South African Communist Party (SACP) has launched another attack on President Jacob Zuma’s leadership style.
First deputy general secretary, Solly Mapaila says Zuma has taught them not to rely on individuals.
Mapaila was speaking in Khayelitsha on Saturday.
The alliance partner has been a strong critic of President Jacob Zuma.
The party released a statement this week that Zuma planned to sack his Deputy and replace him with Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, but the Presidency denied this.
REVEALED: What’s holding up the Zuma exit talks
This weekend “talks about talks” between Zuma and ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa aimed at getting Zuma to step down as President are believed to be continuing
The SACP says the tripartite alliance must work to defend the constitution from people like President Jacob Zuma.
Mapaila was speaking in the context of the SACP’s resolution to contest the 2019 general elections and said the party would do so in a reconfigured tripartite alliance.
He said Zuma should go “as soon as possible” and not be granted immunity from prosecution for any crimes he may have committed.
The SACP says the relationship between the ANC and its tripartite partners has deteriorated.
