Environment:

A dynamic IT and management consulting firmis seeking a highly talented and forward-thinking system analyst to join its team. You will work closely with the solutions architect to ostensibly focus on more detailed designs that have been laid down. This could involve integration services as well as other application designs. The ideal candidate will require matric/grade 12, a BSc Computer Science or similar tertiary qualification and a few years’ experience with skillsincluding: Java, .Net, Software Modelling tools such as UML, Archimate and Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) and SOA.

Duties:

Requirements Interpretation and Evaluation –

• Effectively interpret, validate and confirm business requirements in the context of current solutions and new requirements.

Technical knowledge –

• Demonstrate depth and breadth regarding knowledge of systems in area of responsibility.

Logical design –

• Translate business requirements into logical components demonstrating the logical flow of data and interface.

Physical design –

• Design solutions which accurately responds to the business requirements and align to the existing system model whilst using the appropriate tools and producing the required artefact.

Refactoring –

• Revise existing design to make it more efficient and robust without impacting its functional behaviour.

Root cause analysis and impact analysis (Only required once in system integration testing phase) –

• Investigate the root cause of problems manifested in particular environment and then consider the impact of proposed change on the existing environment.

Requirements:

• Matric/grade 12.
• BSc computer science or similar tertiary qualification is preferable.
• Must have a solid foundation of IT technical skills (ideally should have spent several years as a programmer and solutions designer in Java or .Net).
• Good knowledge of software modelling (UML, Archimate).
• A solid grasp of IT concepts, patterns, principles and technologies.
• Some understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) and SOA.
• Self-confidence and the ability to manage conflict.
• Communication skills at all levels (written, spoken, presentation, etc.).
• Must be able to work in a team.
