A dynamic development house based in Cape Town is looking for a Junior Rails Developer to join their team. Candidates must have Ruby on Rails experience along with other common libraries such as RSpec,basic understanding of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML 5 and CSS 3.

Duties:

• Setting up and maintaining Funda LMS instances.
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code.
• Integration of data storage solutions.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, devise solutions to these problems.
• Maintain code quality, organization and automatization.

Requirements:

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec.
• Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful.
• A proficiency for writing clean, readable Ruby code.
• Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system.
• Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Proficient understanding of git.
• Some experience with the Canvas LMS is preferable.
• Team player who can work autonomously and provide regular feedback to the team.
• An accountable and reliable individual who takes pride in their work and is able to work in an unstructured environment.
