Job description

Job purpose: 

The Website Developer & Master will be responsible for both back end and front-end development, SEO and Server Maintenance & performance optimisation for Brand South Africa’s websites. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bespoke wordpress development & jQuery). 

The candidate must have a strong understanding of the entire web development process including design, development and deployment. 

Minimum Requirements:

• A BSc degree or relevant IT qualification 
• Minimum five years’ web development experience 
• Proven work experience in web technologies including PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript & jQuery. 
• Solid experience in MySQL Database development 
• Proven experience in developing web based applications that are scalable, secure and real time. 
• Knowledge of WordPress standards and functionality. 
• SEO and UX understanding. 
• Fundamental knowledge of web-content management, website standards and content layout principles. 
• Bespoke WordPress development and upkeep 
• Website Server Management and optimisation 
• Solid Agency Experience

Key Performance Areas:

• Website development and updating 
• Planning, structuring and configuring WordPress systems 
• SEO strategy implementation – repair and redirect 404 errors 
• Set up and Manage Google Webmaster Tools 
• SQL and database configuration and maintenance 
• Developing custom PHP modules, themes and plugins for WordPress 
• Server configuration and maintenance 
• Monthly Stress test server for expected traffic and ongoing tweaking / optimization 
• Firewall and Security configuration / Real time monitoring 
• Ongoing backups of server 
• Monthly website stats via Google Analytics 
• Configure CDN to assist in distributing static content worldwide 
• Maintain domains and alias domains 
• Technical server level SEO
