In this position, you will be responsible for the Cape Town and Cape Town Tourism brand, developing and managing all brand elements, such as collateral to support Cape Town tourism initiatives and campaigns. Critical to the success of this role, will be the ability to work within a team and to ensure full integration with other managers in the business.
Reporting to the executive marketing manager, the successful incumbent will be responsible for:
- Strategy, planning and implementation of Cape Town Tourism’s local, domestic and international campaigns through proactive stakeholder relationships and integration within the business to generate significant ROI
- Strategy, planning and implementation of the annual publication, Cape Town’s Official Visitor’s Guide
- Working with event organisers within the City and wider metropole area, in order to provide tourism and promotional services
- Collaborating on key projects and events, such as the Cape Town Tourism’s Annual General Meeting
- Driving the commercial agenda in projects and campaigns.
Other tasks will include:
- Strategic input into the overall Marketing and Communications Strategy
- Development, planning and implementation of a marketing plan which aligns to all CTT’s key departments
- Collaborating and managing key stakeholder relationships (internal and external) to ensure alignment in brand message and delivery of projects/campaigns and event promotion
- Briefing and managing the key outputs of CTT’s Designer and Design and Communications Agencies
- Drawing up detailed business plans for key campaigns and projects, where required
- Identifying commercial opportunities within the work scope
- Conceptualisation, planning, collaboration and management of CTT’s key projects and campaigns, of which include but are not limited to, the brand campaign; 365 domestic and international campaign; Cape Town’s Official Visitor’s Guide; CTT’s Annual General Meeting; Specific Corporate Events
- Working in a collaborative approach, to deliver effectively and efficiently on all projects and campaigns
- Maximising cooperative advertising and communications platforms and opportunities in order to ensure that budgets are maximised. Seeking sponsorship and/or partnership opportunities, where required
- Developing brand collateral in order to support the campaigns and CTT initiatives
- Managing the delivery of tourism and event promotion to support the City’s events
- Responsible for all events across the organisation
- Managing, mentoring and coaching the support team
- Implementing and maintaining efficient admin systems (contracts, budgets, reports, procurement, and corporate governance)
- Owner of Magentic, the workflow management system for the department. This involves the daily management of projects and tasks across the team.
Competencies and other requirements:
- Four to five years’ experience with at least two years’ managerial experience
- Diploma or degree in Marketing/Project/Tourism Management
- A passion for Cape Town
- A good culture fit
- The ability to take initiative
- Exceptionally strong project and time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines with an integrated team and numerous suppliers (essential)
- Clear understanding of brand building and multi-channel campaigns on both a national and international level
- Strong interpersonal and team management skills (internal and external stakeholders)
- Past experience in managing or working within a design agency
- Experience in developing and managing campaigns with different consumer and stakeholder that need to be balanced
- Past experience in long-term planning and building of brand/campaigns
- Strong budgeting and financial management skills
- The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to establish organisational and team priorities
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in at least two of the official languages of South Africa, of which one must be English.
- A minimum of a code eight drivers licence.
