Main function
To sell media opportunities to new/direct clients and maintain good customer and staff relationships, both internally and externally. You will only be considered for agency sales , if you have three+ years’ experience within Radio and dealing with Agencies, proven track record.
Principle accountabilities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual individual targets.
- Formulate monthly, quarterly and annual business plans to achieve targets.
- Achieve monthly KPIs.
- Develop, maintain and grow direct portfolio through excellent client service and a focused client relationship plan.
- Precise and accurate reporting and forecasting as per defined standards.
Core responsibilities
- Generate New Business using cold-calling methods or other viable methods used in the media industry.
- Maintain and grow the existing client base as per agreed targets.
- Research and be conservant in major trends affecting key clients and others in the media sector.
- Provide your manager with weekly activity reports relating to meetings, target status and plans to achieve the agreed targets.
- Communicate effectively and ensure harmonious inter-departmental relationships at all times.
- Be actively involved in all team activities.
- Sharing of Leads and networking contacts within the team.
- Visit at least three clients per a week.
- Achieve an agreed target for the first three months of the contract and 100% for every quarter afterwards.
- Action any reasonable requests that may be required from time to time.
Requirements for position (non-negotiable)
- Two to three years’ direct sales experience required, preferably in the Media Industry.
- Three years plus in Agency sales with proven track record – within Radio environment.
- Anyone with radio sales experience and knowledge would be given first preference.
- Must have own vehicle and valid drivers licence.

- Work with other departments and suppliers wherever relevant to ensure a win/win solution and identify ongoing opportunities for clients.
- Show respect and work with team to ensure achievement of overall sales goal.
- Liaise with the sales team to conceptualise and package up effective creative opportunities for clients.
Relationships
- Build good relationships with clients and staff both externally and internally.
- Attend client and industry functions on a regular basis.
- Maintain and develop direct relationships.
- Work together with trade marketing manager to implement appropriate entertainment/relationship building schedule/plan for clients.
Communication
- Effective and timeous communication with sales management – keeping them updated and informed at all times.
- Ability to resolve complaints and queries effectively and to do so as far as possible without referral to management and with minimum conflict.
- Promote inter-dependence across all internal departments at YFM.
Call rates/client visits
- Ensure the minimum call rates set weekly are achieved.
- Ensure the minimum client visits set weekly are achieved.
Administration
- Ensure the smooth running of all administrative procedures pertaining to scheduling, production, traffic and finance.
- Timeous and accurate weekly forecasts.
- Prepare weekly status reports on all activities every Friday.
- Develop well thought out Business Plans
- Monitor sales performance on an ongoing basis, initiate corrective action and prepare reports, summaries, analysis and documentation and all aspects of the account management.
- Maintain correct information about clients, budget, and planning periods and media activity.

- Ensure quality proposals and presentations that comply to corporate template.
- Prepare, follow up and continuously update a sales action plan working four months’ in advance.

- Ensure consistent development of new business opportunities.

- Ensuring “yield” on revenue sold is at a profitable level at all times.
- Ensure and observe all rate parameters set in place by management.
Other
- Any or other task as instructed by manager/s and or CEO
