Pharmacy Manager (mthatha)
A vacancy exists for a Pharmacy Manager based at a Private Hospital in Mthatha, reporting to the Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the Pharmacy services within the hospital environment for by ensuring that quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.
Requirements / Qualification / Experience:
– B.Pharm / Dip.Pharm / B.Sc Pharm
– Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council
– Relevant clinical knowledge and experience to the critical outputs
– 3+ years’ experience in a Pharmacy Manager / Management position
– Proven experience in a Private Healthcare environment (advantageous)
– Understanding of SA healthcare industry as it relates to Pharmacy and key role-players
– Understanding of operating structures and relationships within a hospital environment
– Current pharmaceutical product knowledge as well as knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation
– Proven leadership and people management experience
– Basic financial management and numeric ability
– Computer proficiency (MS Office)
Responsibilities / Key Performance Areas:
Effective medication safety management
– Implement Pharmacy best operating practice related to medication safety management with the objective of reducing medication incidents to below target
– Achieve required pharmacy alert reporting and develop and implement relevant remedial actions
Effective quality management systems
– Drive the implementation and compliance to the organisation’s Quality management systems
– Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH and the organisation’s legal and professional standards
– Achieve required customer service levels in theatre and wards
– Implement customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives
Effective financial management
– Achieve hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy
– Actively manage the cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget
– Drive identified growth opportunities
Effective product management
– Communicate and implement the organisation’s pharmaceutical product conversions
– Identify and communicate cost saving opportunities for product conversion and utilisation
– Build effective working relationships with doctors
Effective asset management
– Achieve stock targets
Effective systems management
– Ensure optimum system utilisation
– Utilise and action management information on Life Gateway and report appropriately
