Job description

We are looking for a gardens team leader/junior landscaper to join a hotel group. 

You would be travelling to various properties within the group such as Cape Town Knysna, Hermanus and Langebaan.

The perfect individual should have a minimum of one to three years’ experience working in medium to large gardens.

Candidate minimum requirements

Education:

• Must have grade 12

Experience and skills:

• Minimum of one to three years’ experience as a landscaper or gardener
• Knowledge of planting, compost and effects of the sun
• Able to manage a team of gardeners 

Other:

• Reliable, responsible, proactive and dependable
• Able to travel between various properties if and when required 
• Willingness to lead, take charge and offer direction
• Show initiative by taking control of task
• Communication skills
• A valid driver’s licence

Tasks (include but not limited to):

• Following plant maintenance program and manual
• Be hands-on and actively involved in the daily and seasonal horticultural tasks in the gardens
• Source the best products for the project
• Take ownership of projects
• Establish and maintain high standards and practices
• Propagation of local indigenous and landscaping plants
• Be involved in the production of indigenous and landscaping plants
• Oversee the maintenance
• Manage overall plant health and soil nutrition for all gardens to include sustainable gardening practices and integrated pest management
