Requirements:

Senior lecturer:

• At least a master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related discipline, with progress made towards a doctoral degree.
• Preference will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree.
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels required. Research supervision of at least Masters’ degrees required.
• Emerging national profile in discipline.
• Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal).

 Associate professor:

• At least a PhD in computer science, computer engineering or related discipline. Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels required including masters and PhD levels.
• Research supervision of masters and PhD degrees required.
• National and emerging international profile in discipline. Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be informal) 

Additional requirements senior lecturer/associate professor: 

• All candidates must possess the ability and willingness to teach programming-related courses in an established programming language such as Java, Python, etc.
• All candidates must possess practical ability in at least two of the following second-year and third-year content areas: databases, operating systems, functional programming, assembly programming, advanced data structures, web development, compilers and translators, C/C++ low-level programming, or networking.
• Experience in computer security, artificial intelligence or machine learning would be an advantage. 

Duties include the following, but not limited to:

• Engaging in curriculum development;
• Facilitation of learning;
• Assessment of learning;
• Evaluation of teaching;
• Support of students in their studies;
• Supervision of post-graduate students (where the person has the appropriate qualification to do this);
• Assume leadership responsibilities as they relate to teaching and learning. 

Salary:

Senior lecturer – R679,055 CTC

Associate professor – R802,254 CTC
