WITZENBERG PROPERTIES (PTY) LTD CERES SKILLED HORSE HANDLERS AND RIDERS We require fifteen suitable candidates for our Skilled Horse Handlers and Riders positions that are available at our Thoroughbred horse farm, Lammerskraal Stud in the Bo-Swaarmoed area, 20 km from Ceres. Minimum requirements: Minimum grade 10 qualification; 3 years relevant experience working with thoroughbred horses; Bilingual (Afrikaans and English); Thorough knowledge of horses and must be able to ride and handle horses of all ages; General care and upkeep of horses; Hoof care, including removal of horse shoes & basic filling of hooves; Assisting the farrier with shoeing of horses; Handling of stallions; Knowledge of and support with delivery of foals at birth; Knowledge of basic medical treatment of horses; Following of supplement schedules; Backing and basic training of young horses; Skilled in breaking-in and riding of young racehorses; Preparation of horses for shows, auctions and races; Loading of horses into horseboxes and floats. Remuneration and conditions: Remuneration will be in terms of Sectorial Determination 13 of the Basic Conditions Act, and in terms of qualifications and experience. Workers must be hardworking, trustworthy and willing to stay on the farm. Applicants should be at least 18 years of age and proof of ID is essential. Proof of qualifications and experience must be submitted. Preference will be given to applicants with thoroughbred horse handling experience. Term of employment: Fixed term appointment.
