Our client based in Cape Town is looking for a Solutions Architect to provide pre-sales support, including solutions design and pricing compilation and post-sales support relating to solution implementation with a focus on complete recovery solutions.
Education and Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 with relevant qualification
- Tertiary qualification preferably a technical or business degree or diploma
- Minimum of 8 years in an ICT related industry
- ITIL qualification or similar change management standards
- Good technical knowledge on systems over a broad based of platforms and technologies
- Certification or statutory membership with the BCI
- Additional qualifications towards technical degree
- Project Management certifications
- Backup and recovery technology certifications
- Virtualization certification
Competencies
- A broad base of computer literacy and IT industry knowledge
- Experience in a technical support role within a service provider environment
- Experience in a wide variety of Hardware platforms
- Solid understanding of Storage and Networking topologies
- Working knowledge of MS office products, particularly Excel, Visio, Word and Outlook
- Good knowledge of AutoCAD, ability to create, alter and maintain floor plan diagrams
- Understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business concepts
- Experience in backup and recovery best practice and solutions design
- Knowledge of general financial practices and principles
- Good knowledge of project management practices and principles
- Knowledge of backup and archiving technology
- A good understanding of WAN and LAN technologies and concepts
Responsibilities
- Product and service champion
- Recommend technological strategies based on industry trends
- Develop mature products and services to take to market
- Recommend and manage relationships with selected technology partners
- Work towards achieving product and service related revenue and profitability targets
- Design disaster recovery and ICT service solutions across most IT architectures
- Assess existing infrastructures and recommend the most relevant recovery solutions
- Undertake research to identity suitable technology compatible with clients recovery needs
- Assist sales staff to compile technical proposals and tenders
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance to the sales staff
- Maintain current and accurate capacity planning tools
- Train sales staff to handle common pre-sales queries with clients and prospects
- Provide training to staff on services offerings
- Perform investigations on behalf of sales staff and client solutions managers regarding system and technology solutions
- Create technical solution diagrams
- Understand and provide input into pricing tools used to generate quotations
- Liaise with vendors, obtain and evaluate equipment quotations
- Compile solutions pricing in compliance with company policies
- Manage contract changes and ensure that actions are successfully completed, and new clients are efficiently and expediently handed over to operations for delivery of services
- Create, alter and maintain AutoCAD floor plans
