Ninety9cents is a full-service, integrated advertising agency located in Cape Town, and is one of South Africa’s largest independently-owned agencies. Led by founder and Managing Director Andrew Brand, the agency’s extensive client base includes leading brands such as Shoprite/Checkers, Ackermans, PUMA and the Spur Group to name but a few.
We’re not looking for a run-of-the-mill art director who likes to do regular art director things – we’re looking for someone who thinks a little differently, someone who can attack an open brief with very few parameters AND can execute a very specific brief with lots of little details.
We want an art director who is keen to step outside of what’s traditionally expected of an Art Director, someone who want to rise to challenges and tackle TTL Retail Work.
Our ideal candidate must have a keen eye for little and big details, work extremely well under pressure with quick deadlines, high work volume and demanding pitches. A bonus would be if our new recruit has skills or an interest in other creative fields such as video editing, web design, illustrating – anything unexpected that can add value. We want someone who is resourceful, a self-starter and a conceptual thinker. If you are all of the above and then some, have great communication skills, exceptional lay-out skills; know a thing or two about art direction on alcohol brands in an Agency environment and plays well with others – we want to see your portfolio.
Responsibilities include:
- Working in a team under the leadership of a Group Head and Creative Director to conceptualise and execute campaigns based on both client and internal briefs.
- Present work imaginatively and confidently to clients and senior creatives.
- Be skilled in design and conceptualisation.
- Maintain exceptionally high standards for execution and attention to detail.
- Collaborate and communicate well with the team and other departments.
- Have an eternally positive disposition especially when the going gets rough
Requirements
Requirements:
- Relevant Diploma/Degree preferred
- Three+ years’ relevant experience as an Art Director
- Previous experience in an Agency preferred, especially if on retail/non-food campaigns
- Strong skills in design software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator non-negotiable
- Experience in digital and experiential advertising advantageous
- Must be willing to work on alcohol brands
- Valid driver’s license and own transport
