This national manufacturing company is seeking the services of an experienced Procurement Practitioner to monitor, procure and maintain raw material stock levels for the Business Unit.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:
- National Diploma in Purchasing Management or related.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Key Performance Areas:
- Procurement Management:
-
- Ensure integrity in supplier management, sourcing and transparency;
- Fulfil procurement activities and supervise procurement admin;
- Compliance with all relevant audit/control requirements.
- BBBEE:
-
- Optimise BBBEE spend.
- Tenders:
-
- Prepare RFQ’s (brief drawings, product specs, etc.);
- Analyse quotes and make recommendations;
- Conduct supplier evaluations;
- Negotiate terms and conditions and conclude supplier agreements within pre-agreed mandates (price, quality, delivery conditions, payment terms, etc.);
- Place initial orders and follow up.
- Key Material Trend Analysis:

- Maintain and update material standards (exchange rates, raw material trends, etc.);
- Weekly monitoring of key indices affecting the chemical pricing;
- Report individual commodity variances.
- Supplier Evaluations:
-
- Assist the factory with the resolution of supplier problems;
- Review key supplier performance (audits and supplier visits) and compile supplier reports;
- Maintain and develop suppliers to add value by, targeted value added projects, substitution, aggregation of purchase value engineering.
- Purchasing:
-
- Process stock and non-stock requisitions;
- Conversion of requisitions into orders and daily follow up on outstanding orders;
- Closing old & invalid orders, process stock returns on the system;
- Process stock write-downs as per policy;
- Timeously resolve all purchasing issues;
- Provide purchasing forecasts to suppliers;
- Daily attendance at the operational meeting to discuss material requirements and issues.
- Stock Control:
-
- Manage raw material stock levels and maintain stock levels as per stock policy;
- Ensure no obsolescence of consumable items;
- Report stock adjustments;
- Weekly consignment stock count and recon.
- Receiving:
-
- Inform planning if late deliveries will affect production.
- Arrange with the Storeman for late deliveries.
- First point of call between the supplier and receiving.
