Job description
Rooftop is looking for an experienced copywriter to join our creative team. Someone who can step in and hit the ground running, working with our creative directors and content director to develop creative, meaningful content that will help change the world.
Qualifications
- Grade 12/matric.
- Tertiary education (preferably English or communications degree).
- Examples of previous work done to be submitted.
Essential knowledge and experience
- Four to five years’ experience in copywriting for advertising or marketing agencies.
- One to two years’ experience in writing for video or voice over scripts.
- Knowledge/Understanding of storytelling principles.
- Knowledge of animation/video production process.
Responsibilities
Develops effective and meaningful content, copy and scripts (content development) by:
- Working with the creative team to understand the client and key messaging for the project.
- Using the key messages and client understanding to research and develop scripts for video and animation, as well as any further copy required by the project (including: social media content taglines, video end taglines, copy for print and web).
- Writing up the concepts as envisioned by the creative director in clear, visually-driven language.
- Video/animation – Providing input to the creative team within the storyboard and editing phase as required, ensuring that the key messaging and project vision are understood and effectively executed.
- Developing concepts and approaches based on their understanding of the client’s communication requirements.
