An Assistant Research Coordinator (contract ending Nov 2020) vacancy is available at our Client, Wits Health Consortium in Mthatha – Eastern Cape.
Background
Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (“WHC”) is a wholly owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences. WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives. In addition WHC offers a range of products and services to the Academics conducting these activities in order to assist with the management thereof.
Main purpose of the job
- To assist with the coordination of the activities of the research trial to ensure high quality clinical trials are conducted
Location
- NeMACRU, Mthatha
Key performance areas
- Coordinate trial activities to support Principal Investigators
- Meet objectives of assigned research protocol(s)
- Prepare and compile study documents and reports
- Assist and participate in other clinical trial projects as required
- Monitor timeframes and scope of activities as circumstances dictate
- Provide support to the study team as directed by the site coordinator
- Provide support to the Site coordinator
- Support quality assurance and monitoring processes
- Participate in or facilitate relevant meetings and schedule meeting when required
- Coordinate the procurement of equipment and the needs for the trial
- Assist the team with ad hoc administration assignments and duties
Required minimum education and training
- A relevant Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a Medical/Health Care or other scientific discipline
Required minimum work experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a research environment
Additional education, work experience and personal abilities
- Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Pro-active and adaptable
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working in a research environment
- Ordered and systematic with strict compliance to protocols
- Tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferably some experience in project management
- Working overtime
- Ability to operate in a pressurised environment; maintain diplomacy and confidentiality; monitor project plans of research activities
- Communicate effectively with management, clients and sponsors
- Work as part of a team to ensure good service delivery
- Good interpersonal skills
