This New Ketosis Testing Breathalyzer Will Change the Way You Do Keto
The keto diet is, well, complicated. Though it can help you lose weight, the high-fat, low-carb regimen can also be very restrictive. Plus, it’s hard to know whether your body is actually in ketosis and is actively torching fat instead of carbs. (Getting to a state where you burn fat rather than carbs for energy is what makes the keto diet so unique.)
But thanks to a new device called Keyto, the eating plan is set to get a whole lot easier.
Keyto is a breath analyzing tool and smart phone app that can tell you whether your body is truly in ketosis. Before Keyto, you had to either test your blood via a finger prick or pee on a stick and measure your urine to know if ketosis was happening. It was a hassle, and as a result, some followers would forgo testing for ketosis altogether and just hope they were reaching their goals.

Cue Keyto, which can not only confirm if you are in ketosis, but also tell you what changes you need to make to reach your goals if you’re not. The app also includes keto-friendly recipes and lets you chat with other users. It’s not the first keto breath analyzer to hit the market, but it is the first with an accompanying app that provides actionable insights.
Keyto is estimated to ship January 2019, and is currently available for preorder for $99 on Indiegogo. Full price is $179, so get ‘em while they’re hot.

Sport24.co.za | Du Plessis guides Paarl Rocks to victory over Durban Heat
Durban – A well-rounded performance from the Paarl Rocks saw them beat the Durban Heat by nine wickets in their Mzansi Super League clash at Boland Park on Sunday.
The Heat won the toss and elected to take first strike and the decision paid off with openers Morné van Wyk and Sarel Erwee starting positively.
The pair dominated the Rocks attack early and put on 65 for the first wicket before Erwee was bowled by Grant Thomson for 32.
Van Wyk was the next wicket to fall, LBW to spinner Tabraiz Shamsi for 33. At that stage the score as 81 in the tenth over.
The middle order fire power of the Heat didn’t materialise as the Rocks ripped through the heart of the batting line up.
Dave Miller was caught for one, Heinrich Klaasen fell for just four and Albie Morkel was caught by the wicket keeper for eight.
At 105 for five in the 16th over the Heat were under pressure to post a defendable total.
Khaya Zondo played a measured innings where he ended on 38 not out from 34 deliveries.
Vernon Philander supported Zondo well contributing 30 off just 16 deliveries to help the Heat to 154 for six.
In reply the Rocks were steady and after the early retirement of Henry Davids due to a leg injury, captain Faf du Plessis, Aiden Markram and Vaughn van Jaarsveld guided the home side to victory.
Markram put together a steady 48 off 38 balls before Zimbabwean Brandon Mavuta out-foxed him to have him stumped.
Unfortunately for the Heat the Rocks kept on ticking the scoreboard over and eventually got over the line in the 20th over.
Du Plessis ended on 76 not out while Van Jaarsveld was 28 not out.
Keshav Maharaj was the most economical of the Heat bowlers, finishing with no wicket for 24 runs in his four overs.
Mavuta was tidy with one for 32 in his four overs.
The Heat will welcome their international player Rashid Khan for their next clash with the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at Kingsmead on Wednesday.

News24.com | ‘Bogus’ teachers in court for faking qualifications
Two teachers in Mpumalanga have been arrested for allegedly landing their jobs by using fake qualifications, the Hawks said on Sunday.
Sibongile Rose Khuzwayo, 48, and Nonjabulo Bahle Mabuza, 31, were arrested on Thursday and appeared in court on Friday, said Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi.

The two had practised as teachers at Seme Secondary School for eight and two years’ respectively.
“It is alleged that the Mpumalanga Department of Education suffered a combined loss of more than R2.4m,” she said.
The department apparently became suspicious about their qualifications in 2017 and asked them to resubmit their qualifications.
“The pair allegedly opted to resign. The department opened a case with the local police which was later transferred to the Hawks for further investigations and later arrested Khuzwayo and Mabuza for fraud.”
The two will return to the Volkrust Regional Court on February 6.

News24.com | De Lille is back for ‘GOOD’
As South Africans contemplated the endless possible puns from Patricia De Lille’s naming of her party as “GOOD” – the former Cape Town mayor dismissed concerns over the viability of her new political movement.
“There are many South Africans who are looking for an alternative, or who are undecided,” she suggested during a media briefing in Johannesburg on Sunday.
“I think South Africans know me by now – I will not give up.”
READ: Patricia de Lille announces name of new party
GOOD will be contesting the 2019 elections nationally and in all the nine provinces.
De Lille said that when she was asked as to why she had begun the movement: “I said it is because I can.”
‘Very restless’
De Lille recently resigned from the Democratic Alliance, following 18 months of acrimony between her and that party.
Initially she joined the DA when it merged with the Independent Democrats which she founded and led, in 2010.
During apartheid, De Lille was a member of the Pan Africanist Congress.
On Sunday, she described herself as “a person who is continually moving; I’m very restless”.
Asked about the fact that the colours – orange, white and black – of the GOOD movement, were exactly the same as those of the Independent Democrats, De Lille said that she was “not resuscitating the ID”.
She said that the party was assisted by brand specialists and marketing people, and the colour represented what the party “would like to achieve”.
“Yellow is owned by the ANC, blue by the DA, red by the EFF – and we had to find a different colour!”
She swore to carry on fighting for her beliefs until her death.
“I can go and relax at my house on pension… but I cannot rest when my country is in the space where it is now.
“So I will continue to be involved until the day you put me six-foot-six down there – then I will rest.”
Financial assistance
De Lille was flanked by a number of supporters including former Cape Town mayoral committee councillor Brett Herron and former DA chief Whip Shaun August.
She said that the party would “not make a fuss” if those from other parties wanted to join them.
When it came to funding the party, financial assistance had already been offered – but they did ask for more.
She said the party would also alleviate costs by focusing on a digital campaign.
She said she would release her election manifesto, full policy documents and announce her premier candidates in January.
The party was conducting IEC registration.
De Lille said that while there had been speculation as to whether she would return to the name of the Independent Democrats: “This is a new movement.”
She drew on her previous work experience to help her – and to mentor young people to become key leaders.
“My role is to use my experience in government to bring GOOD government and GOOD services to all South Africans.”
Policy points
De Lille said that over the past two weeks, she had been “deeply encouraged” by the support she had received – saying she had been approached by thousands of people.
De Lille spoke about some of her policy points.
On land redistribution, she said: “Given the significant public land holdings, expropriation should be the last resort.”
Public land was not a “commodity” for trade but should be used to help the public, she said.
When it came to social justice, she would fight against racism and sexism.
In terms of economic justice, she said that while she supported the principle of B-BBEE, “It must be done right.”
She also advocated for equal pay for men and women.
A key element of her policy was to guard against climate change.
The name and identity of her political party arose from “the hopeful and patriotic vision we hold” and its guiding values were: “Truth, trust, equity, solidarity and service”.
De Lille expanded on the key message of her party: “The GOOD movement will remind South Africans that you don’t need to be black to fight racism; you don’t need to be a woman to fight for gender equality; you don’t need to be gay to fight homophobia.”
In her first foray into wordplay, De Lille also suggested: “If GOOD people do nothing – that is when evil and corruption thrive in our country.”

Health24.com | 3 meal prep hacks that will make it way easier to eat healthily
One of the biggest saboteurs of healthy eating? Time. Like when you have to work late and cruising through a drive-thru on the way home is just so much easier than cooking. Or when you’re on the road, feeling snacky and… oh look, a garage pie.
Set yourself up for success with these meal prep hacks from Shedding For The Wedding, a comprehensive weight-loss programme for brides-to-be and their bridesmaids. No chicken-and-mushroom shall prosper against you!
When you have leftover stew or stir fry…
Divide your leftovers – including rice or veggies if you had these on the side – into individual portions and freeze them. On those nights when you get home exhausted and in mood to cook, you’ll have a healthy ready-meal waiting to be defrosted. This also works really well with soup.

On a Sunday afternoon…
Roast a chicken. You can eat it in wraps, on sandwiches, as part of a salad or with a side of veg. If you’re not a fan of chicken on the bone, roast or steam skinless chicken breasts instead.
On a Sunday evening…
Fill five small containers with a portion of nuts – the little soy sauce containers you get with sushi takeaways are the perfect size. Add a banana or an apple and that’s a week’s worth of weekday snacks sorted.

Every evening…
Make extra salad and starch. All you need to do is add your protein of choice and lunch for the next day is ready to go. While you’re at it, here’s a simple meal prep hack for those who don’t have time for breakfast: Throw a portion of fruit, 22g dry oats, a cup of milk (or milk alternative) and a handful of ice in a blender. Top with water and blitz into a smoothie. Stick it in the fridge for brekkie on the go the next day.
