Assists NPD manager in preparation of formulations and evaluatin the stability of batches to meet product standards and specifications.
Principal accountabilities:
Calculates amounts of ingredients needed for various batch requirements.
Weighs raw materials as determined by formula requirements for batch preparation.
Combines and processes weighed ingredients, observing batch throughout manufacturing process. Records all notable characteristics. Introduces colour adjustments as required.
Assists in evaluating product stability by submitting samples of experimental products.
Conducts physical tests on batch samples to insure product adheres to pre-determined specifications.
Maintains accurate and detailed records and logs of all work performed.
Demonstrates knowledge of and performance within acceptable laboratory safety standards.
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Machines/instruments used:
Mixers (Silverson, Propeller mixer, benchtop), laboratory, balances, pH meter, personal computer, calculator, and Brookfield viscometers

Six to twelve months of prior laboratory experience
Ability to distinguish colours required
May be required to handle containers of hazardous waste
