A fast-paced retailer seeks an ambitious and results-driven vetting manager to join its team to take charge of the effective execution of the credit vetting function and operational management of staff and business processes. The ideal candidate should possess a Business, Economics and/or risk management BComm Degree, a solid grasp of credit & debt recovery, specifically the National Credit Act, at least seven years’ experience in the consumer retail or financial services sector as well as five years leading a team at mid-managerial level.
Duties:
Operational management of the entire vetting area:
Ensure productivity is optimised through the effective management of the area and driving best practice.
Ensure resources and structures supports long-term growth objectives.
Maintain awareness of external influences such as legislation and manage accordingly to keep efficiencies and to meet and manage targets.
Foster an environment that encourages and rewards innovation and challenges current methodologies with a view to improve operational efficiencies across the business.
Accurately balance risk and trends in driving innovation in the organisation through effective testing and analysis within the area.
Keep up-to-date with the latest trends, legislation and best practices in the credit industry and assess the potential impact of these changes on organisational processes.
Ensure a comprehensive audit plan is in place and reviewed annually.
Requirements:
Qualifications –
BComm degree in business, economics and/or risk management.
Experience/skills –
Minimum of seven years’ experience in the credit operations environment is essential, preferably in the consumer retail and/or consumer financial services sector.
Minimum of five years’ experience leading a team at middle management level.
Excellent understanding of legislation governing the credit and debt recovery industry, specifically the National Credit Act.
MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet.
