The main purpose of this position is to plan and coordinate the movement of materials and products throughout manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution.
Principle Accountabilities
- Plan and implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations
- Monitor inventory levels and help develop plans to increase the speed at which materials flow through the plant
- Resolve problems relating to transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports and customer issues
- Monitor inventory accuracy and implement robust systems for accuracy improvement
- Monitor, report and eliminate causes for premium and unplanned freight charges
- Monitor product import and export processes to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations
- Negotiate with suppliers and customers to improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability
- Promote continuous improvement within the logistics function
- Promote good housekeeping and safety within the logistics function
- Conduct performance appraisals for all logistics staff
Education/Experience:
- Matric
- National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply-chain management in a manufacturing environment (experience in the automotive sector would be advantageous)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
