Overall Purpose of the Position:
The Media Strategist is the day-to-day focal point to the clients account. The strategist is expected to have day-to-day responsibility for assigned accounts and is expected to have an understanding of the client’s overall business and marketing objectives. The strategist is the steward of the tactical communications planning process and provides mid-level strategic recommendations to the senior media team and/or client. The Strategist is expected to have a strong working knowledge of the media space (including digital media) and available media research. The strategist is expected to be an active participant on the business; consistently engaged and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit our clients and the role will be based in one of our locations in Sub Saharan Africa.
Key Performance Areas (KPA’s) & Responsibilities
- Developing media strategy using all of the principles
- Guide clients to make the right decisions through your expert media knowledge
- Drive innovation and the future of communication (digital) agenda
- Account management – delivering excellent client service and ensuring delivery on the KPI’s stipulated in the client contract and client service skills
- Campaign management – managing your team to ensure everything is streamlined, up-to-date and communicated through to your client
- Drawing up costing schedules and media flow plans, using both traditional/non-traditional media ensuring client objectives are met. Share with buying team upon approval
- Campaign tracking against objectives, tracking campaign performance and developing benchmark optimisations.
- Delivering post campaign evaluations and media reviews as well as market and media trends
- Effective budget management and negotiation to improve on campaign deliverables
- Assist your team where necessary – accurately briefing the buying team on approved campaigns in obtaining PO’s / written approval, sorting out billing queries, managing media suppliers, etc.
- Work closely and effectively with suppliers, client, creative agencies and any other 3rd party agency to ensure that you drive the brand agenda
- Track campaign performance and develop benchmarking optimisations
- Track DAN Trading commitment performances and drive the trading agenda
- Accurate filing and record keeping of campaign information
- Drive integration between all DAN agencies

Requirements
Skills Required
- 3 – 5 years of media agency experience – medium to heavy weight.
- Sound knowledge of strategy which involves forecasting, trending and presetting quality parameters.
- Expertise on media software’s such as Telmar & Arianna.
- Excellent communication skills and speed of response. Proficient MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word skills
- Speak and write English
- Media presentation skills
- Excellent time management and communication of work completed/barriers/solution
