Sales Representative (packaging)

The company offers a comprehensive range of light packaging solutions for the retail and food services industry, and also manufactures paper bags, folding cartons and tissue products.  The Sales Representative will be required to promote and sell these products to various clients, within the East London area, as well as the Transkei up to Mthatha. Travel may include as far as Queenstown and Grahamstown / Port Alfred.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Sales and Operations Manager, as well as in-directly to the Branch Manager. 

Responsibilities:
• Meeting monthly and annual sales targets, and gross profit targets
– Selling and Marketing of the Company’s range of products to the market
– Must adapt to company order systems
– Servicing existing accounts
– Aggressively developing new markets
– Handling sales related calls, queries and associated administrative duties
– Stock management and order processing
– Ad-hoc deliveries when required
– Servicing Customer needs
– Good knowledge of bakery, butchery and deli products
– Taking physical stock counts of customer at store level

Minimum requirements:

– Must have driver’s license and own reliable vehicle (essential). 

– Matric / Equivalent (essential); Tertiary in Sales / Marketing advantageous but not essential

– Minimum of 2 – 5 years sales experience in the packaging industry or equivalent
– Fluency in English, with Xhosa and Afrikaans being advantageous
– Experience in dealing with corporate and independent accounts
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work well to deadlines and be highly goal oriented; be energetic and self-motivated

OUTPUTS:

  • Assumption of full responsibility for company PLC training strategy, planning, training delivery, PLC equipment and facility maintenance, reporting, SHERQ management in designated area

  • Further, develop the company’s technology link to the Plant, TSS specialists & related forums. Keep abreast of latest technology developments and drive training module maturity and improvements
  • Sound understanding of plant manufacturing technology with an emphasis on PLC’s and Automation
  • Directly provide plant artisan training, suppliers and apprentice PLC training and conduct all applicable work in line with the required quality standards
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to providing other training in related technical fields
  • Responsible in ensuring that all training deliverables are done in compliance to the Company’s Integrity Codes & S.H.E.Q requirements and to perform delegated S.H.E.Q tasks and duties & to inform superior about deviations

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Highly skilled (practical and theory) in Advanced Technical Training (ATT) PLC technology in particular
  • Ability to deliver and further develop all levels of technical training in required fields
  • Experience with company PLC standards (Integra Wave 4, Integra Wave 6 and TIA Portal)
  • Familiarity with company processes / SHERQ standards, as well as knowledge of PLC training stakeholders
  • Good organising and interpersonal skills (Enthusiasm and passion for people development)
  • Ability to interface with all levels of persons in the organisation and external customers / organisations
  • Ability to work as part of a team and fully independently as needed
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey technical skills and knowledge
  • Ability to perform the minimum required physical and mental requirements of the function

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Millwright or Electrician Trade or relevant equivalent with willingness to undergo further development to achieve company certification and other PLC trainer certification
  • M+3 years in relevant qualification
    Certification on PLC standards from Siemens is highly advantageous
    Minimum of 3 years or experience in an automotive training industry
    Industrial maintenance / production/IT related experience
    Fault finding of automation & PLC components, diagnostics and systems at an intermediate level
    Knowledge of plant PLC systems and standards, interfaces and developments

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Key Performance Areas will encompass:

ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • Ensure adherence to Procurement Legislation, Policies and Procedures Contracting with successful applicants in line with guidelines of the SCM framework;
  • Pre – tender submissions;
  • Liaise with business unit managers to ensure that bills of quantities, job specifications or Terms of Reference are clearly defined and presented to Manager: Demand and Acquisition;
  • Custodian of evaluation reports and Procurement Proposals and quotes;
  • Formulate comprehensive and accurate evaluation reports with recommendations for authorisation;
  • Record attendance and declaration of interests by Quotations Evaluation members to the meeting;
  • Monitor that Quotations Evaluation Committee recommendations are carried out and report back on a monthly basis;
  • Document Quotations Evaluation Committee minutes accurately;
  • Compile a detailed weekly procurement report to the Manager : Demand and Acquisition indicating projects status;
  • Maintenance of Supplier database;
  • Capturing of all supplier information and updating of supplier database on Promun

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • National Diploma in Supply Chain or related qualification
  • 3 years administrative support with some experience in Procurement
  • Experience in Demand and Acquisition Department especially in procuring of quotations will be an added advantage
  • Must possess the following competencies;
    • Sourcing of Quotes
    • Document filing
    • Scheduling meetings
    • Computer literacy and report writing skills
