Our client in the automotive component manufacturing industry is currently looking to employ a Production Manager in East London.
Main purpose of the position:
Planning, organizing, directing and controlling the efforts of subordinate personnel to achieve the objectives of time and cost effective product introductions, efficient manufacturing processes and continuous improvement activities within a manufacturing Environment.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a communication champion to ensure the drive for positive employee relations is maintained.
- Ensure that the company Vision and Mission is upheld at all levels.
- Responsible for the adherence to BOS (QMS) and other production related procedures.
- Meet profit plan objectives.
- Support the Company Skills Programme and Equity Plan.
- Ensures that relevant reports are produced timeously.
- Assures adequate staffing and training to execute operational plans.
- Responsible for the planning and control of production, scheduling work through the plant and the on-time supply of product internally and to the customer while achieving the maximum utilization of the equipment and labour.
- Manages Production methods and systems to evaluate and improve, operating efficiencies and ensure potential cost savings are achieved.
- Consult daily with other departmental heads in order to ensure smooth work sequences in all shifts with high focus on scrap and OEE
- Recommend new procedures and processes to improve quality and quantity while maintain or reducing production costs
- Plan development measures for individual employees in order to improve their performance and reach their personal goals and monitor and manage their performance against these goals.
- Ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
- Set priorities for servicing and maintenance of equipment to ensure employees and machines operate effectively and efficiently.
- Perform ad hoc duties as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Compulsory – relevant degree/diploma with qualification in Production or Engineering
- At least 5 years of production management experience, in a manufacturing environment
- Advance computer literacy, Excel/Word/PowerPoint
