ROLE SUMMARYThe incumbent will further be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or a group of patients, for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs. The incumbent will be a role model in the delivery of evidence based care and will actively participate in Clinical Governance. The incumbent will be expected to work according to off duties as well as week and weekend call/emergency relief.

• Audit of health records to ensure compliance

• Ensure all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately
• Adhere to the Netcare Resuscitation  and Reanimation policy and update regularly
• Adhere to Netcare medical waste management principles and all other waste management principles

• Effective risk prevention and management

Requirements

SKILLS PROFILE

• Must have the necessary nursing qualifications, currently registered with the South African Nursing Council
• Matric Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
• Operating Theatre technique will be advantageous.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Relevant experience in the nursing discipline
• Previous theatre scrub experience essential, Open Heart experience will be an advantage.
• Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation
• Must be prepared to be flexible in working hours / shift work and different disciplines
• The ability to actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals.

KNOWLEDGE

• Thorough knowledge of general / specialized nursing theory and practice
• Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the highly specialised field.
