Background

Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (“WHC”) is a wholly owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences. WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives. In addition WHC offers a range of products and services to the Academics conducting these activities in order to assist with the management thereof.

Main purpose of the job

• To assist with the coordination of the activities of the research trial to ensure high quality clinical trials are conducted

Location

• NeMACRU, Mthatha

Key performance areas

• Coordinate trial activities to support Principal Investigators
• Meet objectives of assigned research protocol(s)
• Prepare and compile study documents and reports
• Assist and participate in other clinical trial projects as required
• Monitor timeframes and scope of activities as circumstances dictate
• Provide support to the study team as directed by the site coordinator
• Provide support to the Site coordinator
• Support quality assurance and monitoring processes
• Participate in or facilitate relevant meetings and schedule meeting when required
• Coordinate the procurement of equipment and the needs for the trial
• Assist the team with ad hoc administration assignments and duties

Required minimum education and training

• A relevant Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a Medical/Health Care or other scientific discipline

Required minimum work experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a research environment

• Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Requirements / Qualification / Experience:

– Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council
