Oliver + MORE is seeking an experienced Business Director for an exciting opportunity to be based at our client in the northern suburbs of Durban. Unilever is one of the world’s largest global advertisers and our in-house agency, U-Studio delivers Unilever’s digital needs-based content, focussing on digital content creation and delivery.
As a strong Business Director you will be an integral part of U-Studio, and will be responsible for:
The development of strategy and oversight across market specific digital design, creative and production.
Understanding the complexities around working hand-in-hand with clients on a daily basis.
Championing and producing engaging and business driving creative content and digital advertising across a fully integrated channel mix is a must. As well as having experience working for FMCG clients producing both local and global content.
Working closely with the client as a long-term business partner, steering the development of their brand and marketing strategy and building relationships with Brand Director’s and Brand VP’s.
What you will be doing: You will be the client lead for up to three U-Studio teams, managing the Content Team Leaders of those teams and be responsible to the client for the deliverables of each U-Studio you oversee. You will be responsible for driving growth of the U-Studio teams, working closely with senior clients on their digital advertising and content requirements, always pushing U-Studio to be the chosen provider for the production of assets and where possible driving more creative and strategic work, pushing for U-Studio to drive campaigns from strategy, to ideation, to production to data analysis.
Client Service
Building strong relationships with all clients, from brand execs and managers through to directors and VPs.
Be the main point of contact for each Unilever Editor (part of each U-Studio team). You will work in partnership with the Editor, driving business and the teams to deliver great work.
Escalation point for the client for any issues with your teams. You will need to be a problem solver that deals with problems with a solutions-based attitude.
You will be confident with clients and will challenge the client when necessary, whilst keeping a positive relationship. You negotiate to create win-win compromises with your client on behalf of you team members where needed.
You will ensure each team delivers to the expected levels of client service at all times.
Leadership
Lead each U-Studio team by example, line-managing the Content Team Leaders.
Developing, coaching and driving CTLs and their teams to constantly add value to our clients and to challenge the briefs we receive, in order to break the norm and deliver outstanding creative work.
You will be responsible for the guidance and development of your team so it is essential you are a great communicator, able to inspire your team and spot potential.
You will have oversight of your teams WIPs and knowledge of projects going through the U-Studios, without being pulled into the day to day management of projects. The ability to direct teams to deliver, without getting caught up in the detail.
Growth
Responsible for growing the U-Studio offering, pushing our capabilities to Unilever’s brand teams and keeping us front of mind with brands for all digital advertising and content creation
You will actively seek out opportunities with brands and build relationships with senior clients, pushing to upsell our offering.
Operations and Financials
Follow refined processes for U-Studio and OLIVER and push teams to work to the processes set out, but have the ability to challenge things to ensure teams are working as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Manage the P&L for each U-Studio team and forecast operational income on a weekly basis to senior management.
Candidate Criteria (Experience and Skills):
Eight+ years of relevant agency work experience.
Strong digital marketing landscape experience.
Previous experience leading teams of over 15 people.
Experience working for large FMCG clients.
A strong grounding in the commercial running of accounts, bank and stretch and P&L.
Strong gravitas and the ability to build realationships with senior clients, buidling trust in our offering.
A team player with a client centric focus and possess the ability to build strong and effective working relationships with your teams and colleagues.
