Job description
Community Media Trust (CMT) is a South African NGO focusing on communication in the fields of basic human rights. CMT aims to empower individuals and communities, encouraging them to take part in managing and improving their own lives, promoting healthy and health-seeking behaviour and basic human rights. It does this through media and outreach programmes that provide scientific information in a format that is easy to understand.
CMT seeks to employ a suitably qualified/experienced community liaison officer (CLO).

Key duties and responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to)
- Attend the relevant community meetings and structures in order to ensure that the community is kept abreast of activities
- Gain and support community entry
- Assist with recruitment for programmes
- Work closely with the project coordinator and the team to fulfil the project goals
- Represent CMT at local structures or ensure that someone does
- Conduct community mobilisation when necessary
- Host, organise and attend meetings with stakeholders
- Supporting facilitators during sessions
- Assist in finding venues and contractors when required
- Comply with ad-hoc requests from your supervisor

Requirements
- Matric (or equivalent) + a certificate in the field HIV/AIDS, or any related fields required
- Minimum one year of work experience engaging with communities is essential
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, TB, other related health issues and/or community work required
- An understanding of local culture
- Valid code 8 driver’s license
- Intermediate level computer skills (MS Office)
