Job Overview
The Concrete Mixer Truck Driver will drive a concrete mixer truck equipped with either a manual or automatic transmission, utilize his truck to properly mix the concrete and deliver concrete to assigned job sites.
Interpersonal Skills
The individual will be required to display a professional attitude and show respect to customers at all times.
Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other task assigned.
The incumbent will always be representing the brand of the contractor, and must carry out himself with honesty and carefully at all times.
The Concrete Mixer Truck Driver must be physically fit and will be required to undergo periodic medical tests.
Work Times
Hours are determined by customer need. As such, hours will vary greatly, and would at times include night work.
The trucks will have to be in the respective batching plants no later than 06H:30am in the morning.
Due to the nature of work there is no fixed finishing times.
All drivers must have their own transport. Transport will not be provided to any person finishing work late.
Work Environment
The working environment will vary based on the production/construction environment, and the individual will be exposed to varying noise levels.
The individual will be exposed to outdoor changing weather conditions (i.e. rain, sun, wind, etc.).
SHEQ & Personal Protective Equipment -PPE
The individual will be issued with a full set of PPE, and will be required to attend Induction in terms of the Contractors SHEQ processes. He must therefore at all comply with the provisions of these requirements.
Performance Management
The Concrete Mixer Truck Driver will be subject to a Performance Evaluation process linked to his Employment Contract to continuously assess his performance, productivity, efficiency and discipline.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Administration
The incumbent will complete a variety of pre-printed forms including, but not limited to; inspection & defect sheets, log sheets, delivery notes, waybills, incident reports, fuel management records, etc.
Contract Compliance
The Concrete Mixer Truck Driver will be expected to follow and comply with all reasonable instructions issued by the Contractor’s designated representatives.
The incumbent will be required to comply with the specification guidelines provided by the contractor with regard to the concrete slump and should not alter this at his own will.
Guidelines, protocols and Operating Instructions of the Contractor must be adhered to.
Thorough Discipline must be demonstrated in compliances with the rules of the Contractor.
Vehicle Utilisation
Fuelling of the vehicle must take place before close of shift and docking, no fuelling will be permitted in the mornings.
No unauthorised usage of the vehicle is permitted, and any off- route travel will be deemed as unauthorised usage. No passengers are allowed in the truck.
Good, proper and cautious driving skills must be demonstrated at all times to ensure that no pre-mature wear and tear is experienced by the vehicle, and for due respect for road safety and other road users.
Vehicle Care and Maintenance
The truck is a branded vehicle and is to be maintained in a clean condition at all times to portray a good image for the company.
It is important for the Mixer Drum to be cleaned and maintained daily to avoid build-up in the drum.
