Job description
Premier Hotels and Resorts – one of SA’s leading, independent hotel groups, is looking for a Central Reservations Office Manager, to oversee the central reservations function of the group. The position is based in Seapoint, Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Review and update company’s Yield policy.
- Must be able to identify red flag/dates/months/periods and bring it to management’s attention with possible solutions.
- Assist and follow up with Rooms Division and Front office management regarding their Yield initiative and responsibilities.
- Must have involvement in the rooms budgeting process(realistic and relevant budgets)
- Must analyse booking trends, lead times and must be able to identify trends and change in booking patterns etc.
- Analysis of revenue and occupancy trends, must be able to identify red flag situations /market segments with corresponding action plans.
- Post and authorise deposits.
- Plan and expedite the daily running of the Reservations Department ie. Ensure that all reservations are captured correctly, handle queries regarding deposits.
- Monitor busy periods well in advance for close outs, double bookings etc.
- Be up to date with all activities taking place at the Hotels.
- Recruit staff as per the approved budget.
- Induct and train staff
- Conduct performance appraisals.
- Conduct progressive discipline.
- Ensure Reservations are up to date with Hotel updates
Requirements
Job Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of PMS System
- Knowledge of Hotel Front Office procedures
- Management of Guest satisfaction processes
Job Related Skills:
- Interpersonal skills

- Good Communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office, PMS Systems and Third Party Extranet Sites
Required Experience:
- Min 3 years Front Office experience in a 4/5 star hotel
- Min 2 years Reservations experience in a 4/5 star hotel
- Previous experience in same or similar role (Preferable)
- Experience on Amadeus, Starlight, Opera (Preferable)
- Point of sale experience (Essential)
Education:
- Grade 12 (Essential)
- Hotel Management Diploma/Degree (Desirable)
Personal Requirements:
- Good command of English
- Excellent organisation and planning skills
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a high-performing team positioned to exceed targets
- Strong analytical skills to understand key business indicators and competitive trends and develop approaches to these challenges
- Excellent selling capabilities and the ability and desire to coach selling techniques to team members
- Expected to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals and groups.
- Effective communicator, enthusiastic and adaptable
- Strong sense of responsibility, accountable and resilient
- The ability to be diplomatic is essential because this is a customer service position

- Due to the nature of the hotel industry must be available after hours and over weekends
