Job description

For more than a decade, we have promoted safari & luxury travel destinations across Africa, pioneering a new path for sustainable tourism and leaving our legacy on the continent. Now, we are on the hunt for a full-time UX/UI Designer to join our tech and digital marketing team, with the ability to take our mission to even greater heights.
As the ideal candidate you should have at least four to five years of relevant experience, as well as experience with e-commerce related projects and CMS’s. Reporting to our Head of Web Development, you will work at the intersection of our design, marketing and development teams. As a UX/UI designer will also design the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing.
As UX/UI designer, your key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Always focusing on the end-user experience, understanding design requirements across various platforms (mobile, tablet and desktop) and mastering the convergence of design and usability
- Thinking strategically beyond existing products to ensure a consistent experience across platforms
- Collaborating at the intersection of marketing, UX and development to understand concepts and features and translate functionality into design
- Collaborating with our analytics team on user research to develop behavior-driven design
- Creating visual prototypes and screens that will be used to explain user experiences and application flow to other project stakeholders
- Creating a standardized design language for our brand across all visuals
- Ensuring that Rhino Africa’s creative requirements are met and that the UI and final product visually enhances and communicates the experience that has been laid out
- Collaborating on user experience planning with the Head of Web Development and consulting with stakeholders, while keeping up to date with latest trends in design and technology
- Acting as the user-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered perspective

Requirements
Our ideal UX/UI designer will possess the following attributes:
UX:
- Be efficient in heuristic and expert evaluations of user experience
- Be proficient in creating engaging interfaces through interaction design
- Experience working with methods such as sketches; wireframing; prototyping; information architecture; sitemaps; and conceptual designs
- Have experience in designing for persuasion, emotion & trust (PET Design)
- Have experience designing across devices and browsers
- Have experience with presenting deliverables to clients, stakeholders and the team
Design:
- Be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch and wireframing tools
- Have experience in collaborating with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
- Be familiar with collaboration tools like InVision
- Have experience with seeing digital design work through from conception to execution to craft
- Have experience designing CI’s as well as setting up guidelines, best practices and standards for other designers to follow
- Have experience with gathering requirements, and delivering UX/UI specifications and workshops
Qualitative user research:
- Experience in conducting interviews with target users to extract information on user experience
- Experience in conducting usability testing with target users to extract information on user understanding
Quantitative user research:
- Experience working with Google Analytics, VWO and HotJar
- Experience with Conversion Rate Optimisation
