Job description
This role requires someone to work closely with the consumer insights manager to further strengthen and develop the research capacity of Capfin, with a view to providing input into the strategic direction of the business through market understanding. The role requires a well-rounded researcher, who has experience with both qualitative and quantitative consumer research and can help ensure all research undertaken is turned into actionable insights that will further build the brand and value propositions to our customers.

Key performance areas
Strategic research:
- Support the consumer insights manager in the implementation and delivery of strategic research initiatives, including:
- assisting in creating and maintaining a stable, durable and measurable market segmentation model, comprising both qualitative and quantitative data
- ensuring additional strategic research is undertaken timeously and effectively and will deliver on the insights required to assist the business in achieving its strategic objectives
Market trends and competitive intelligence:
- Take responsibility for the sourcing, monitoring and sharing of data, articles, reports and other information about trends that will have a lasting impact on the unsecured lending industry. Including monitoring and reporting on market share, competitor activity and industry trends (retail and lending); and the monitoring and reporting on various forms of media
- Take responsibility for developing this competitive intelligence capacity within the organisation, including measuring and monitoring market share data to gather competitive insights
Voice of the customer:
- Work together with the consumer insights manager in further developing and maintaining the voice of the customer initiatives which seek to encourage the awareness, relevance, engagement with and utilisation of consumer insights across the organisation and bringing the voice of the customer into the business
- Assist the consumer insights manager in liaising with other stakeholders in the organisation to ensure the effective collection and dissemination of customer insights
- Take responsibility for further communicating certain research findings and insights deeper into the business
Social media measurement:
- Take responsibility for tracking and reporting on Capfin’s presence, reputation and mentions on social media
- Liaising as necessary with other stakeholders in Capfin (e.g. Capfin UK) when tracking Capfin’s reputation on social media
- Liaising with and appointing social media tracking vendors as required
Marketing metrics:
- Compile other monthly marketing metrics (e.g. share of voice metrics) with the view of adding value to the marketing strategy and marketing decisions
- Work with the consumer insights manager and other internal stakeholders in developing metrics which assist in driving the acquisition and retention of customers
Pre and post campaign analysis:
- Assist as required in pre and post campaign analyses of new launches etc. in the market to assess consumer response and the return on investment
- Obtain data and assist as required in the creation of reports with the Direct Marketing team to understand the efficacy of direct marketing campaigns delivered via various channels
Identifying insights and opportunities:
- Actively contribute towards identifying consumer insights which can assist in driving business decisions, for example:
- Identifying untapped business opportunities in terms of customer and product insights
- Identifying incremental opportunities (category, channels, technology) to the current base business that allows the business to capture and increase market share
Qualification
- Degree in marketing, commerce or relevant field/discipline
Experience
- Three to five years’ experience on the supply side in the market research industry
- Qualitative and quantitative research experience
- Strong project management capabilities
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis and techniques
- Minimum one year in the financial services industry (advantageous)
