A great opportunity exists for a group data analyst (FMCG). The position is available in the Pietermaritzburg head office with a well-established FMCG business, who is a leader in its field.
Reporting to: Group marketing executive
Qualifications:
- Matric essential
- Marketing related degree/diploma
- Data analytics preferable (Data Orbis/Nielsen/Aztec)
- Two to three years’ experience in an FMCG, retail analytics or similar environment
- Drivers licence/own transport
- Must be willing to travel when required
Key responsibilities:
- Develop consumer, shopper and market insights into understanding
- Use competitive intelligence, marketing analytics and consumer insights to identify key trends and growth drivers, resulting in a focused strategy to achieve sustainable business goals
- Undertake market and category reviews to develop a comprehensive product portfolio and pricing strategy
- Identify issues, opportunities and barriers to drive category and brand portfolio growth through key channels
- Use of Data Orbis, Insight, Silo and existing market trend data to compile a thorough and holistic view of the size of opportunities
- Monitor and analyse business performance monthly versus business goals (sales, share, profitability) as well as benchmarking performance against competitors
- Identify relevant market trends, realistic and actionable opportunities and potential competitor threats and generate market reports
- Monitor new product launches and course correct to optimise activity and drive improvement
- Identify, quantify and track distribution opportunities across channels and regions
- Review SKU efficiency for operational excellence, ensuring right product, size and format in the right retailer/channel
- Present customer reviews to key customers
- Volume analysis versus spend and competitor performance to maximise strategic pricing and promotion effectiveness (price and promotion analysis)
- Pro-actively look for opportunities to improve growth, share, distribution and forward share
- Manage the group CRM tool between sales, marketing and admin functions
