Operations Trade Support Senior Operations Professional (Cape Town Claremont) Fast-paced Broker and Financial Technology Company based in Cape Town (Claremont) is seeking the skills and experience of an Operations Trade Support Professional reporting to the Operations Manager
To liaise with all divisions of the business (trading, sales, technology, operations and tax – as well as external clients to assist in facilitating the business’ core processes) and provide guidance and direction for new and existing products.
Minimum requirements:
- Relevant Financial Services qualification
- Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant financial services experience
Knowledge:
- Specialist knowledge in any of the following functions is highly advantageous:
– Clearing, settlement and custody of local or international securities and FX
– Funding
– Reconciliations
– Corporate Actions
– Issuance of securities through IPO’s

Job Responsibilities:
- Liaise with all divisions of the business:
– Trading
– Sales
– Technology
– Operations
– Tax
– External clients to assist in facilitating the business’ core processes, and provide guidance and direction for new and existing products
- Strategically analyse control processes to help protect the companies’ reputation and assets
- Work closely with IT, QA and Development teams testing existing software / applications; communicating suggestions on time critical projects; or finding and implementing efficient solutions
- Accurate and timely capture of all transactions received from clients
- Verification of each trade against Broker confirmation
- Liaising with client regarding any discrepancies on trades and resolution
- Speaking with brokers to chase confirmations and resolve trade discrepancies
- Liaising with Brokers regarding client’s settlements instructions, dealing with day to day queries from clients, custodian and Brokers
- Monitoring and resolution of any unmatched / failed trades
- Working closely with other teams within the organisation to ensure a smooth and accurate execution to settlement process
- Corporation actions – analyse event notification and ensure accurate and timeous processing of all events on ex-Date
- Access information from various sources and compile an event notification from the clients
- Understanding the difference between foreign and local events as well as tax implications
- Prepare and perform weekly / daily reconciliations including thorough investigation of all outstanding issues
- Monitor and manage cash positions at liquid providers
- Ensure that all FICA requirements are complied with (where relevant)
