ONGOING SAPS AND DPCI OPERATIONS
The DPCI (Hawks) working with the NPA in the so-called ‘State of Capture’ investigations commenced to serve warrants of arrests on thirteen (13) suspects yesterday in Bloemfontien and Johannesburg relating to the Vrede Dairy Project.
A total of eight (8) suspects have been arrested during the takedown operation;of which two (2) of the suspects are still being sort while 3 (two of Indiannativity and one of Chinese nativity) are believed to be outside the republic andassistance on them will be sort.
Minister of Police, Fikile Mbalula has directed the Acting-Head of DPCI to makesure that all 10 appear before court today.
The DPCI will soon be naming the 2suspects still being sort locally. The Hawks assisted by the National Intervention Unit of the SAPS effected thearrests on some of the implicated suspects while others handed themselves over.
The investigations are still continuing and more arrests cannot be ruled out.
“I must appreciate the patience of the public in general for allowing the lawenforcement agencies to do their work, these investigations naturally take a lot of time.
“Due to the sensitivity and seriousness of these matters it is not possible for the DPCI or my office to provide minute to minute account of the state of capture related investigations but once again assure all that since mid-2017 atleast 17 dockets are being investigated without fear or favor and indeed with noholy-cows”, Mbalula concluded.

The case has been postponed to 17 August.
The Estina project allegedly saw hundreds of millions of rand meant for poor black farmers, being redirected to Gupta family and business bank accounts.
State says it isn’t opposing bail for #Estina accused. Case is still under investigation, most addresses have been confirmed and it wouldn’t “be in interests of justice” for bail not to be granted.

With Ramaphosa anointed president, what will happen to Gigaba?
With Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa set to become SA’s 5th president of the democratic era, he will be in a position to appoint the first Cabinet not overseen by Jacob Zuma in almost a decade.
This means that Ramaphosa will be able to choose the first finance minister not appointed under Zuma’s watch since 2009. Malusi Gigaba, the current minister, was brought in after Pravin Gordhan was axed in a midnight Cabinet reshuffle on March 31, 2017.
But if he were to be reshuffled himself, or moved laterally to another Cabinet position, who would replace him?
Some of the candidates that are said to have a chance of securing the top finance job, if Gigaba stepped down or were removed, are former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene, former finance minister Pravin Gordhan, ex-treasury director general and current Standard Bank CEO Lungisa Fuzile, former deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas, and former ANC treasurer general Zweli Mkhize.

#GuptaLeaks: The Dubai Laundromat – How millions milked from Free State government paid for Sun City wedding
By all accounts, the 2013 Sun City nuptials of the Guptas’ niece, Vega, was a dazzling display of the family’s wealth.
Except it was not.
The #GuptaLeaks reveal that the Free State provincial government largely picked up the tab for the “event of the millennium”, as it was described by a guest, KPMG Africa then-chief executive Moses Kgosana.
“My wife and I were privileged to attend and enjoyed every moment and every occasion,” Kgosana gushed in a thank-you note to Atul Gupta. “I have never been to an event like that and probably will not because it was an event of the millennium.”
Surely, though, the long list of political and business figures attending the multi-day spectacular was not privy to the veiled source of funds.Except KPMG’s Kgosana should have been.
KPMG were the auditors of the Guptas’ Linkway Trading (Pty) Ltd. This company, we shall see, played a crucial role in allowing the diversion of cash earmarked for the Free State’s Vrede dairy project to reimburse most of the wedding expenses – R30m to be exact.
