Job description
Boomtown is on the lookout for a super conceptual copywriter to join their team. Under the supervision of and working closely with the team’s Creative Director, the copywriter will be responsible for concepting new ideas and expanding on current copywriting efforts for the agency. This role will work closely with a tight community of Art Directors, Strategists, and Accounts teams to establish the identity and personality of the products assigned. This role will be tasked to ensure that the team’s creative efforts are impactful. The role will be based in Boomtown’s Port Elizabeth office.
Boomtown leads with their passion to create inventive new concepts. This Copywriter will develop, create and execute written communication strategies and tactics for assigned clients. This will include determining the tone, style and structure of content based on client’s requirements. This role will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of advertising process including initial idea creation to ensure anticipated creative ideas can be achieved based on the platform, technical and artistic needs, and budgets proposed.
KRA’S
- Create a succinct copy for projects inclusive of big-picture campaigns.
- Be involved in the creative expansion of big-picture concepts to be rolled out into 360 creative including retail copy, radio, print, out of home, instore signage, etc.
- Collaborate with the creative team on new business pitches to develop and shape brands and their messaging.
- Interact with project teams to ensure tone, style and structure support the concept
- Actively contribute to strategic brainstorming campaign development, creative brief development and execution.

Requirements
- Minimum two to three+ years of experience in an ad agency in a copywriting role
- Fluency the in English, IsiXosa and/or IsiZulu languages with excellent grammar, comprehension, and phrasing
- Ability to write long-form and short-form content
- Outstanding creativity and ability and strong concept skills
- Ability to write content and copy in wide variety of styles
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients
- Relevant qualification
- FMCG and corporate brand and marketing communications experience
- Outstanding organisational capability, operational skills and attention to detail
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills
