Job description

As a credit analyst, you will analyse financial statements of multiple SMEs in South Africa across various industry sectors.

The candidate will be expected to:

• Prepare credit papers for review
• Analyse and interprets credit bureaux reports
• Use in-house and external rating agency credit rating tools and other economic indicators to supplement analysis
• Prepare detailed evaluation reports and prepare to defend the credit paper to the investment committee
• Oversee and evaluate these lending/investment decisions
• Accompany colleagues occasionally on-site evaluation missions
• Promote and reinforce the role of Spartan as the financiers to SMEs, constantly improving relationships with entrepreneurs and potential partners

Requirements

Required qualifications:

• The individual must have a BCom degree, with majors in finance/accounting

Desired skills and experience:

• Minimum five years of working experience
• Preferably one-year relevant work experience in business financing or business banking or SME credit analysis in either a bank, an investment company or an audit company
• Exposure to SMEs
• Analytical mind, organised, precise and meticulous
• Ability to take initiative, learn quickly and strive for results
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong team player and motivator
