Job description

Our Nomad Now client is one of South Africa’s Big Four Banks. They are looking for a Data Scientist to design, prototype, and build next-generation analytic systems and services by applying a strong expertise in machine learning, data mining and information retrieval. This person must have five to eight years’ experience in a data science role.

The job description is as follows:

• Lead and develop Data Science Use Cases with a small team in an agile.
• Machine learning and Model training/retraining and deployment.
• Exploratory data analysis and visualisations using large data sets.
• Acquire and load relevant data and generate features from this data sets.
• Implement and integrate models into production systems.

Requirements

• BSC computer science, BSC engineering, econometrics, mathematical statistics, actuary science

Preferred:

• Related Master’s Degree Certifications (i.e. regulatory knowledge – FICA / RE etc.)
• Related data science certifications memberships and registrations (i.e. candidate attorney/Marketing Association of South Africa (MASA)
• Experience from the job description: Minimum required experience (essential disqualifier relevant industry experience)
• 5-8 years’ experience in a data science role
• Portfolio of delivering projects successfully into production
