A global tech solutions provider seeks a DevOps engineer (Maven/Linux) with a proven and successful track record as a technical professional who is both resourceful and innovative. This role places a heavy emphasis on both maintaining and improving a complex continuous integration and release solution and providing support to a large team of developers and testers involved in a complex, Java-based product suite and projects. You will require a BSc. /BEng. in Computer Science, or ND:IT or an Oracle Certification or equivalent work experience. You must also have 3+ Years of experience in an enterprise IT or development function, Maven, Linux, Chef; Build Automation and Continuous Integration (CI) tools, such as BuildForge, Jenkins, Hudson or Bamboo; Open Source build tools, such as Sonar, Emma, PMD, Clover and Checkstyle. Duties:

• Design, development, implementation, migration and support of a comprehensive build, continuous integration and release management process and technical solution to support the development processes, using existing tools as a starting point, but building on the same or other open source, and possibly commercial tools, moving forward.
• Drive the adoption of Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development, and Agile best practices, processes, and tools.
• Design and develop features for build and test and deployment systems (from development stage to production).

Requirements:

• BSc. or BEng. in computer science, or ND:IT or Oracle certifications or equivalent work experience.
• Three+ years of experience in an enterprise IT or development function.
• Two+ years of:
  • Administration experience with development tools, like build automation, continuous integration, code analysis tools, deployment scripting as well as application and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Using Linux based operating systems.
• Maven is essential.
• Chef (or similar).
• Administration experience with:
  • Build Automation and Continuous Integration (CI) tools, such as BuildForge, Jenkins, Hudson or Bamboo.
  • Open Source build tools, such as Sonar, Emma, PMD, Clover and Checkstyle.
• Deployment and scripting tools, such as Cargo, Thoughtworks Go, Jython scripting for IBM WebSphere or WLST for Oracle WebLogic.
• Some development experience using Java technologies.
• Unix/Linux operating system (including Shell, Perl or Python or Ruby scripting).
• Previous experience in release engineering and/or configuration management.
• Experience in a team that is subject to multiple reporting lines.
• Some after-hours work will be required from time to time.

Specific skills and knowledge requirements –

• Strong understanding of various SDLC methodologies and particularly Agile.
• Extensive knowledge of open source build automation, continuous integration and code analysis and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of automated deployment scripting, tools and techniques.
• Interest in the metrics that can be usefully extracted from large development groups.

Advantageous –

• Creating and modifying plug-ins for Maven and Jenkins.
• Open Source ALM tools such as JIRA, FishEye, Crucible.
• Collaboration tools such as Confluence.
• Administration experience in Open Source change management tools software like SVN or CVS.
• Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMWare (Workstation, ESXi, Lab Manager) or Virtualbox.
• Administration experience in Open Source issue tracking software like Bugzilla or Mantis.
