eNCA | Abrahams fights for job
JOHANNESBURG – NPA boss Shaun Abrahams is still fighting to keep his job.
Abrahams is now arguing that there is no evidence that he was appointed by former President Jacob Zuma to shield him from prosecution.
This follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s withdrawal of Zuma’s appeal against a North Gauteng High Court judgment that Abrahams should vacate his position.
The state attorney says should Zuma choose to pursue the matter, he may do so through his own legal means.
Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Justice says the withdrawal shows that Ramaphosa has hit the ground running, and the committee’s job will be easier going forward.
Abrahams’s appeal is scheduled to be heard in the Constitutional Court on Wednesday.
