JOHANNESBURG – Church leaders are urging the ANC executive to remove President Jacob Zuma from office.
The ANC national executive committee (NEC) members meet on Wednesday for the first time since their election last month.

The meeting takes place in East London.
The South African Council of Churches says that recalling Zuma will restore the public’s confidence in the governing party.
Support for the ANC has been declining amid claims of corruption and patronage within its leadership.
