MPUMALANGA – Five lions on the loose in Mpumalanga, it’s not clear how they got loose.
SAPS Spokesperson Leonard Hlathi said the police could not at the moment give information as to how the lions escaped.
He did, however, warn community members to be on the look out for the predators along the Mananga road, near the Mozambican border, Lebombo.
Hlathi confirms that the lions have not been caught.
“Community members need to be on the lookout, the lions have not been caught and that poses danger because that road is frequented by people, who are walking. Even people who are driving might want to park their cars to answer the call of nature, that poses a serious danger to them”.

The Spokesperson urges the community not to walk or park anywhere near the area for their own safety.
Hlathi told eNCA that the lions were seen around a low bridge area near Mananga.
The SAPS and Kruger National Park rangers are currently searching for the lions.
