JOHANNESBURG – Thabo Mbeki explained his approach to HIV-AIDS during an interview with the chairman of radio station Power 98.7, Given Mkhari, on Thursday night.

Mbeki was slammed during his presidency for policies that denied thousands of HIV-positive South Africans access to treatment with antiretrovirals (ARVs).

He still believed that more than medical treatment was needed to treat the virus.
