GOLD COAST, Australia – South Africa’s Blitzboks, the defending Commonwealth Games champions, suffered a shock deafeat at the hands of England on Sunday at the Gold Coast, Australia.

The Blitzboks lost 21-14 after leading 14-0 at halftime in their bronze medal play-off.

In the semifinals earlier on Sunday, South Africa lost 24-19 after Fiji led 12-0 at halftime.
