JOHANNESBURG – Police have killed a suspected robber during a shootout on the N3 Highway in Johannesburg

They also arrested two other suspects.

Police say attempts to stop a suspected stolen vehicle led to the incident near the Marlboro off-ramp.

Two unlicensed firearms were recovered from the scene.

Police believe the suspects are linked to a spate of robberies where the victims are followed home from the OR Tambo Airport. 

The suspects are expected to appear in court tomorrow.

They’re likely to face charges of murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
